Club Classifieds Notice

Sellers & Buyers, beware of current SCAMS.

Much has been written about the thieves who ply ad web
pages such as ours. Some may not have access to such articles,
so PLEASE read the following, before placing an ad on this web page.

Never agree to send funds using WESTERN UNION. This is a sure
sign that the seller has nothing to sell, regardless of photos
they may have sent. Such photos are just harvested off
of the Internet.

Never agree to accept a Cashiers Check (Or any other kind)
for an amount larger than the Asking Price, of the item your
selling, with a request that you then refund the extra, or forward
funds drawn from your account to any other party!
These cashiers checks have proven to be bogus, and bounce
about a week after they are deposited.

Never agree to a wire transfer of funds, to or from your
bank account. Giving out account and tracking numbers, will result in funds being
withdrawn, rather than deposited to your account!

To avoid these Scamming attempts, Consider placing your ad, listing only
a telephone number, and a best time to call. Any interested party should
have no problems with phoning.

If you’ve read our WARNING, and wish to proceed……………..

You may place as many ad’s as you wish.
Ad’s will be dated and deleted after 60 days.

Items listed should be Nash related, Rambler, AMC.

Your Ad will not appear immediately, it must be approved by
Webmaster before posting to Internet.

==========================================

I wanted to express a concern over a classified ad I responded to on the classifieds section of the ‘Clubs website.

I emailed and attempted to call on a ’48 Ambassador listed for $8000. I asked for photos – which were only sent after I “conformed my interest” (???) to the seller. I was then told “since I was a Club member” I could just send a deposit for the car, which would be shipped to me and only then would I have to pay the balance – and even the shipping would be covered by the seller (that’s a new one to me).

When I attempted to call the phone number listed in the advert., it was one of those ‘please hold for your free gift” phone numbers.

I know we are always telling sellers to beware of scams, perhaps we should also be telling potential buyers to do the same?
