Another view

Thank you again for the tips and info as to the identity of the sad old relic that rests in my woods. According to my sixty-seven year-old neighbor, George, this car you identified as a '51 Nash Statesman last saw service as a "log skidder" on the site where it now rests--presumably, its function was to be a stationary winding winch for pulling logs up the hill, as the term implies.
